Recommended for:
PVC (including wood grain effect), Polyester Powder coated substrates, Plastic sheeting, Polycarbonate sheet, ABS, Perspex, Painted Surfaces, PVF, PVF2, EPDM and other rubber materials, Glass, Anodized and Mill Finish Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Galvanized Steel, Copper, Ceramic and Vitrified Tiles.
Not recommended for:
Removal of old sealant contamination/residues or applications where quick evaporation of solvent is needed before applying sealant.
NB: Due to the variety of construction products available, if there is any doubt about the suitability or effect on the substrate carry out a pre test on an inconspicuous piece or consult Adshead Ratcliffe Technical Service Department for advice.

ARBO® Cleaner 16 is an alcohol-based cleaner suitable for the cleaning and degreasing of many different construction products without destroying certain sensitive surfaces. It is recommended for use on PVC, EPDM, glass, painted surfaces, powder-coated substrates, polycarbonate, ABS, and various metals prior to sealant application.
No. ARBO® Cleaner 16 is not recommended for the removal of old sealant contamination or residues, nor for applications where quick evaporation of solvent is required before applying sealant. For those applications, ARBO® Cleaner 17 is the appropriate choice for suitable substrates.
ARBO® offers a comprehensive range of ancillary products to support professional joint sealing and surface preparation. This includes primers (AG2 Porous Primer, ARBO® Primer 2650, ARBO® Primer 925), a full range of cleaners and degreasers (ARBO Cleaner 16, ARBO Cleaner 17, ARBO Glass Cleaner, ARBO® PVC Solvent Cleaner), and specialist products such as CARLISLE® Foam Cleaner for equipment maintenance.
Proper surface preparation is critical to achieving the specified performance of any ARBO® sealant. Joint faces must be clean, dry and free from all contamination. Failure to degrease and prime correctly can result in adhesion failure. ARBO® Cleaners remove oils and residues; ARBO® Primers promote adhesion on porous substrates. All joint preparation should be carried out in accordance with BS 8000-16: 1997 + A1: 2010.
ARBO Cleaner 16 (alcohol-based) is recommended for sensitive surfaces including PVCu, EPDM, glass, painted surfaces, and powder-coated substrates. ARBO Cleaner 17 (Xylene-based) is suited to harder substrates including aluminium, steel, copper, GRP, untreated timber, and concrete. ARBO Glass Cleaner is formulated specifically for glass and impervious reflective surfaces. ARBO PVC Solvent Cleaner is designed for solvent cleaning of PVC window frames and doors.
