The Project
The existing roof covering was cleaned and prepared with high pressure jet washing and targeted repairs were carried out using ARBOFLEX® PU sealant to seal all the cracks. The ARBOFLEX® PU cold-applied liquid waterproofing system was then applied directly onto the existing roof covering, which acted as the vapour control layer.
The field areas of the roof were completed first, followed by the details, which included existing kerbs, upstands, cills, and cladding interfaces, and replacement of the roof lights. The correct ratio of CARLISLE’s ARBOFLEX® PU thickener was added to the cold-applied waterproofing liquid to provide the required viscosity for application to vertical surfaces.
Replacement of the roof lights was carried out over the course of 10 days, with only 1-2 units replaced each day, with work scheduled for the morning to allow sufficient curing time. ARBOFLEX® PU accelerator was used to reduce the cure time so that each roof light was secure by the end of the working day and the liquid waterproofing was allowed to cure around the fixings, providing a robust waterproof seal.
