Cruden Homes, Edinburgh, Scotland

Overview

The Avenue, a prestigious residential development by Cruden Homes in Edinburgh's sought-after Barnton area, is an example of the successful integration of luxury living with sustainable building practices. Comprising a mix of apartments, penthouses and villas, the project required a high quality roof and terrace waterproofing solution to match the prestigious location of the development and the expectations of future residents.

With a commitment to environmental responsibility, Cruden Homes aimed to achieve a balance between durability, longevity and minimal environmental impact, ultimately earning the project a coveted NextGeneration Project Gold Award for sustainability.

The Project

Faced with the challenge of providing a robust and versatile waterproofing system, Site Roofing recommended the RESITRIX system, a hybrid single-ply membrane that combines the durability of bituminous materials with the flexibility of EPDM. This innovative solution offered numerous advantages, including extended service life, resistance to construction traffic, and adaptability for both standard roof areas and walkable terraces. Crucially, RESITRIX's sustainability credentials, including EPD certification, DGNB compliance, and Green Label certification, aligned perfectly with the project's environmental goals. The system's flame-free installation also addressed safety concerns, minimizing fire risks on site.

The implementation process was streamlined and efficient, with trained installers preparing the deck, applying primer, and installing the self-adhesive RESITRIX SK W membrane. Laps and details were securely sealed using a hot air gun, ensuring a watertight finish. CARLISLE's reliable supply chain and UK stock allowed for timely material delivery and predictable cost management, which was particularly important for the city centre location. Site Roofing, confident in the system's performance, provided a warranty, further demonstrating their trust in RESITRIX's durability and longevity.

The project achieved remarkable success, delivering a durable and reliable waterproofing solution that contributed significantly to the development's sustainability credentials. The efficient and safe installation process, combined with the system's longevity and low maintenance requirements, ensured cost-effectiveness and client satisfaction. Both Cruden Homes and the future residents benefited from a high-quality roofing solution that enhanced the prestige and longevity of the development. Site Roofing's positive experience with RESITRIX reinforced their preference for the system on high-profile projects, while CARLISLE's commitment to sustainability and innovation solidified their position as a leading provider of premium waterproofing solutions.
