Cargo Warehouse, Schiphol-Rijk

On the roof of this BREEAM Excellent-certified building, another beautiful thing arose. The largest continuous HERTALAN® EASY COVER (FR) roof in the Netherlands. Constructed in total with membranes with a thickness of 1.5 mm and a size of 5.60 x 30 m. The method of fastening is extremely durable and has gone via Carlisle® Induction Technology.

Down to the last detail

Freight building 17 is such a large project that the production of EPDM and fasteners is geared to it. Close cooperation with the producer of the fasteners (SFS) was necessary because such a project has to be done right the first time. This is also the reason why we are present at these types of projects, both in the preliminary phase and during the execution.

Security of supply is essential, for which an extra internal storage was created at both production locations. This way we could even deliver earlier if material was needed earlier. Processing was also optimized. In the preparation, a laying plan was drawn up together with the roofer Hollanddak, so that with a limited staffing, 168 m2 EPDM membrane could be laid in no time at all and mechanically fastened by means of induction.

Completely attuned to each other

There are four rolls of 168 m2 each on a pallet, so it is important that the rolls are positioned correctly in advance during delivery. The train worked perfectly in any case: one group attaches the insulation with the screw-groove-pressure distribution plate combination, then the second team lay the HERTALAN® membrane, the third group gets to work with the CARLISLE® Induction System, which uses the electromagnetic induction technology. And the first team can already move on to the next level. No one has to wait for anyone else. In this way, the team laid 3,500 to 4,000 m2 per week. The time savings were of course already made in the work preparation and the prefabricated delivery.
