Sustainable EPDM Roofing – Quality and Sustainability

How can we make good products even better? Continuous quality optimisation is an integral part of the corporate culture at CCM Europe. We not only take a critical look at our successful products, but also at our management processes. We are committed to satisfying exacting standards in relation to quality, energy and environmental management and to the continuous improvement of our management system. Regular in-house and external audits ensure that we meet the standards and regulations of ISO certification ISO 9001:2008 (quality management), ISO 50001:2011 (energy management) and ISO 14001:2009 (environment management).

Short workflows, open communication

Whether it be customers or employees, suppliers or authorities, the press or our neighbours – at CCM Europe, we communicate on an equal footing with everyone, person to person. We believe in strong connections because only partnership-style cooperation, openness and trust make smooth and rapid workflows possible. With our proprietary “CARLISLE® Operating System” (COS), we are working constantly to improve our internal workflows. This is how we guarantee quality products, adherence to delivery deadlines and cost control – and also maximum customer satisfaction.

Making the best use of energy and raw materials

Already during the production of our products we pay attention to an efficient handling of resources and raw materials. In doing so, we are committed to complying with legal requirements, an optimised use of energy that is sensible from an environmental and economic point of view and provide the information and resources required to achieve energy targets. We monitor our consumption and make the best possible use of energy sources; we maintain plants and supply facilities wherever possible. We also consider the procurement and development of products and services from an energy perspective. We motivate our employees to act in an environmentally conscious manner and reward them when they contribute their own ideas to increase energy efficiency.

Sustainable building, protecting resources

Thanks to its long service life, EPDM is more suitable than almost any other material for sustainable building. Unlike pure bitumen products, which have to be replaced around three times over a building’s lifespan of around 80 years, our CCM Europe EPDM sealing systems have a predicted life expectancy of more than 50 years (according to the SKZ study). Customers wanting to increase the energy efficiency of their building with roof and façade seals made from EPDM can therefore save lots of energy even during the manufacturing stage. Our products are free of heavy metals, halogens and highly volatile softeners and can be processed safely without releasing chemicals or harmful substances.

Certified environmentally friendly

CCM Europe’s commitment to protecting the environment is more than just words on paper. We are an active member of the German Society for Sustainable Building (DGNB), which has set itself the goal of planning, operating and using the built environment for the benefit of everyone so that the interests of generations to come will not suffer. We fully support this and we therefore have our products accredited by the DGNB. We are also committed to the FBB, Fachvereingung Bauwerksbegrünung e.V., and the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU), and our RESITRIX® EPDM waterproofing sheets have been awarded a type III environmental product declaration (EPD). Our HERTALAN® EPDM roof sealing products bear the DUBOKEUR® certificate for sustainable construction. We also adhere to the stringent regulations of the Forschungsgesellschaft Landschaftsentwicklung Landschaftsbau e.V. (FLL).

Promoting workplace health and safety

Workplace health and safety protection are key components of our corporate activities. By drafting safety standards and consistently implementing the applicable legal regulations, we create safe workplaces for our employees with the aim of reducing the risks of accidents, the risks associated with handling hazardous substances and technical systems to a minimum. Workplace health and safety protection are just as important as quality and environmental protection.

We take responsibility

Corporate social responsibility is a big term that we approach with great pragmatism in our company. As CCM Europe, we want to give something back to society – and our favourite way of doing this is with hands-on activities that have a direct effect. As a result, we support both cross-regional and local projects. We have been supporting the Stiftung phönikks, for example, which looks after cancer patients in Hamburg outside of hospital and also tries to provide support to relatives after the death of a loved one.

Other examples of our social commitment include our support for the sparrow rescue campaign organised by the Deutsche Wildtier Stiftung designed to save endangered birds, or our sponsorship of the new pond at Reptilium, a terrarium and desert zoo in Landau, Rhineland-Palatinate. And of course, encouraging up-and-coming talent is also very important to us: CCM Europe supports the boys in the 1st C Youth of ESV Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg von 1908 e.V. as well as the female youth volleyball players in VfL Pinneberg.
