A flat roof sealing system needs to withstand quite a lot. All types of weather conditions, thermal and mechanical influences lead to considerable material movements and cause conventional systems to age rapidly. This is where EPDM shows its superiority: the synthetic ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber exhibits excellent material properties thanks to its molecular cross-linked structure and combines flexibility with durability. So it is not without good reason that the process for manufacturing EPDM was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1963.
Versatile, flexible, resilient – and easy to install
The synthetic rubber EPDM is completely resistant to UV radiation and weather and, thanks to its extreme elasticity of more than 500%, is flexible enough to be used in a wide variety of waterproofing situations. The fact that EPDM membranes can be installed without a naked flame ensures additional safety in the workplace. The Süddeutsches Kunststoff-Zentrum (SKZ) in Würzburg, which tested our EPDM membranes as part of a long-term study, has credited the material with a service life of more than 50 years. Based on this long service life, synthetic rubber has an excellent eco balance sheet and can also be recycled in an eco-friendly manner.
Installation-friendly membranes, manufactured using the hot bonding method
To make installation faster and easier, we not only offer EPDM roof waterproofing sheeting, but we also offer large-format membranes. These are produced without the addition of adhesives or other auxiliary agents using a hot bonding method in which EPDM strips are bonded together homogeneously through hot vulcanisation. High pressure and carefully controlled temperatures ensure that a 100% tight bond is achieved. The unchanging conditions and the constant quality checks in our production facilities guarantee excellent quality, which would not be possible with a seam join on the roof.
